About us
Little Manitou Art Gallery - by artists, with artists, about artists ... for everyone!
Sarah McKen is the owner operator of Little Manitou Art Gallery. Together with her life partner, Clayton Cave, they create the many aspects of Little Manitou Art Gallery . “We work well together!”, says Sarah. “I operate the business, contracts and marketing. Clayton manages the physical site and curates displays.” Both Sarah and Clayton are professional artists with their own creative careers.
The story of Little Manitou Art Gallery began when Sarah, her son, and Clayton moved to Manitou Beach in 2012. The property at 204 Elizabeth Ave. was purchased because of the location – only 2 blocks from the main beach and central to many popular attractions – and most exciting was a cindercrete block building that could be set up as Sarah’s bronze foundry, while the attached garage could be converted into Clayton’s studio. From those meager beginnings, they have steadily developed the property and business.
It didn’t take long to realize that people were curious and wanted to visit. The “Little Gallery” was built to display finished pieces but that brought even more interest and they soon figured out they couldn’t keep up! They asked 3 friends to help; to place artwork for sale by commission. The network of artists grew and continues to expand… additional display buildings have been built to include more artwork.
Little Manitou Art Gallery has developed into a three-way-win. Artists have a retail outlet in a tourist destination to share their creations. Little Manitou Art Gallery has something new and interesting to share every day. And visitors find an amazing variety of artwork – by so many artists – all displayed in one unique and welcoming place.
Drop by for a visit next time you’re at the beach and be sure to say “Hi!” to Sarah, Clayton, and maybe meet a visiting artist or two!

Beautiful spot - Manitou Beach is a much more interesting place than most small lakeside villages and this art gallery is a great example of why that is! Friendly people and quality art from local artists and craftsmen/artisans. Honestly I just wanted to even sit and have a coffee at one of the tables among the trees in a quiet corner of this gallery. I look forward to visiting again and I'd definitely recommend stopping by when you're in town, support local artists!

2021-09-02 at 12:52 amWe stopped by today for a visit. It is a fabulous little spot, with lovely owners, great pieces of art and crafts to look at and to buy, interesting artifacts up the hill with a teepee and a sweat lodge and a great atmosphere to sit in and have a glass of wine.
Thank you Sarah

2021-08-17 at 5:21 pmHello, My fiance, daughter and I were at your gallery a few weeks ago and my daughter has her eyes set on a smaller handmade purse with a dragonfly on it. I am wondering if you have one available as my fiance and I are planning to travel up there to pick it up for my daughter for her birthday gift. We would very much appreciate a speedy response.
We hope you’re keeping healthy and safe.
Thank you and see you soon.
